For What It's Worth - an update from ME!
Jon was traveling through my town today, and I enticed him by offering to buy him lunch. It's been a while since he had real Mexican food.
For three and a half hours, I was able to talk to Jon about Earl. I can safely say that he is still very passionate about completing the Earl tablet.
He had THREE Earls! Yeah, different versions, very fun to see all of them at once.
I took video of him talking about the Earl units, and I'm currently uploading it to YouTube - I didn't expect it to be as big as it was, and it's only about half uploaded as of this posting. I'll put the link below.
I'm energized about this now too! Jon has an infectious excitement about the Earl tablet. He's run in to so many difficulties and so many problems that I'm truly surprised at how positive he is about it. He didn't complain once.
This is how I see it: It's a one-man show people. He's trying really hard. Imagine being away from friends and family for extended periods of time, in a foreign country where you're lucky to find someone who speaks your language. It's a different culture, and I'm truly impressed at what he has been able to accomplish to date. I think he's pretty much run the gamut for what the current company can help him do, and now that it's all assembled, only a few kinks left, he's got to find a manufacturer that can knock it home. This is my viewpoint. I'm glad it's Jon, and not me.
I'll give a link to the video. I'm the cameraman, so blame me if the quality isn't as good as you could do.
BTW, Jon likes pizza too - convince him to visit you, buy him lunch or dinner and upload YOUR video!
