I'm reading a whole lot of discontent and for once I can't help but feel the same way.
When I backed earl I was backing a product I had hoped one of the larger players would realize had a market. A large screen, yet portable, eInk device with GPS in a waterproof case. The solar panel was a nice touch, and I could really get behind the sensors.
But what I really wanted, and earl promised, was a GPS device with the power savings of eInk in a rugged waterproof form factor.
A 4.7" screen just doesn't work for me. trying to view a topographical map on a cellphone screen is a pain. 1.3" might not seem like much of a sacrifice to John, but I assure you it does to me, and it would seem to many of you as well.
I have long felt the John hasn't really paid much attention to the forums that he set up. That made sense to me seeing as he seemed to be a one man show trying to bring to market something brand new and innovative. I hope he takes a moment to gauge the feedback on this latest update. @ToddCady if you could point him in the direction of these latest posts that would be great.
I can't say I see myself requesting a refund. I sort of fired and forgot about the money way back when. But if the end result is a 4.7" B&W device with all sorts of parts hanging off of it, I might just be tempted to try and get my money back.
I hate how negative this post reads, but despite waiting 5 days to comment I just couldn't pull together a more positive outlook.
Feeling really down about this.
