I have a hard time believing that Jon has abandoned the project, despite the appearance of such. It's obvious that he surrounded himself with defective people from the start, and has lost an incredible amount of time and money in the various failures that EARL has suffered, but I have no doubt that he desperately wants this to succeed.
I've never seen a Kickstarter funding that has gone this long without fruition without being cancelled, however, so I don't have much of a baseline to compare.
I'm sure Jon does avoid this forum, which in my opinion, is exactly the absolute worst thing he can do, but the fact is, we haven't had an update in eight months. If I were a betting man, I'd say EARL is effectively dead.
But, as I have said before, my 300 bucks was long spent and gone. I don't look at pictures of it regretfully, like a lost love, the way some people here apparently do. Who knows? Maybe one day out of the blue I'll get a package from Squigle with an EARL inside. But I'm not holding my breath, nor do I begrudge the people who do ask for a refund.
Is it a scam? No, I don't think so. Is it a lesson in complete incompetence? Yeah, that's about it.
