What's so aggravating and frustrating is that the combination of e-ink, processor+ram, radio, GPS, solar panel into one device just knocks the socks off of any tablet or smartphone. There's no satisfying alternative, and that's why we're all here.
Id laugh to see a tablet in the back country, poor beast that carries such hardware to desolate places. But id gladly tote a sexy tool like the earl, something that can hold its own with purpose and dignity when civilization is practically out of reach.
But, it might as well be a ghost like that of the inspiration that established this place for us all to gather and languish.
On the other hand, I'm just now reminded of the snail pace technology can move. Think Microsoft with windows phone, namely Lumia 1020. And how eve giants can seem to grind gears bringing an intuitive product to market in a time manner, namely 1030 and windows phone OS in general.
And why aren't there any real e-ink phones out yet...except for the onyx E43...onyx being Earl's midwife.
